Dell’s affordable Vostro 1000 Laptop announced for $399

Dell has announced its new laptop, called the Vostro 100 that extends the Dell Vostro series of products. Interestingly, the price of this 15.4-inch device has dropped down to $400 (approx. Rs. 16,000) from $700 (approx. Rs. 28,000).

Dell Vostro 100 sports a 1.7GHz AMD Athlon 64 X2 TK-53 processor, Windows XP Home Edition, an XGA panel, 120GB 5,400 RPM hard drive, 1GB of DDR2 RAM and a DVD writer (with dual-layer DVD+R write capability).

Moreover, ATI’s Radeon Xpress 1150 integrated graphics set, 802.11g WiFi and a four-cell Li-ion battery to boot are also bundled into the laptop.

Finally, Dell has entered into the economy class arena with the Vostro 1000 laptop and makes it affordable for most of the target audiences.
