Sony wins Top Position in LCD TV Holiday Sales

Sony is well-known for its wide range of high-end products. For a fact the consumer electronics company entered a little late in the sphere and was dominated by the likes of Samsung, Sharp and Vizio in the beginning. However, Sony did show its best quality in its television lineup and hence was accepted respectfully and has been credited in the category of LCD TVs.

Texas-based research firm, DisplaySearch concluded that Sony has ranked first in the LCD market sales with 12.8 percent share in North America, followed by Samsung with 12.3 percent and Vizio with 10.7 percent. Sharp and Polaroid stood on the fourth and five position, respectively.

This study took place in the period from October-December. In the prior third quarter, Vizio was second and Samsung was third; while Panasonic and Samsung shared the top spot in the North American plasma TV market. In the same period, LG, Hitachi and Philips filled the other spots in the race for the top five ranks.

Furthermore, Samsung and Sony share the first position in the overall ranking for flat panel TVs. Vizio, LG and Sharp follows them respectively.
