Modu, the World’s Smallest Phone developed by Israeli Company

Modu Phone

An Israel-based company, Modu Mobile has announced that they have developed the world’s tiniest handset, dubbed the modular Modu phone system, boasting to be just 40.1g and measuring 72mm x 37mm x 7.8mm.

This concept mobile phone comes with different “jackets”, commonly referred to as cases. Users will be enabled to slot the Modu into a wide variety of these jackets or into another specially developed technology. Moreover, when the miniscule Modu phone is enclosed into the jackets, consumers are allowed to change what the device can do. The interest thing about this phone is that most of the time, users can operate the phone within the jacket or within a Modu Mate

You can access few listed features from the tiny Modu device such as:

  • A large screen or keyboard
  • MP4 player
  • Ability to send/receive SMS
  • Speaker
  • Bluetooth
  • Minimum 1GB of storage
  • Can act as mass storage USB Flash Drive
  • Zack Weisfeld, vice president of marketing at Modu Mobile, expressed, “Modu starts with a tiny handset, which is the lightest phone in the world at 40.1g. In spite of its small dimensions, the phone does everything that a sophisticated cell phone does. It’s tiny, but it is the right size to make it functional, to make you be able to dial numbers.”

Modu chief executive Dov Moran mentioned, “If you go to the movies and do not want to take the full keyboard with you, or the 5-megapixel camera, if you just want to have the communication device with you, you can carry the Modu device.”
Modu has partnered with various companies such as Lifestyle – an entertainment, fashion brands worldwide and music company Universal Music Group to be part of the Modu ecosystem, and design stylish and customized Modu jackets. The company has also joined hands with mainstream consumer electronics manufacturers for developing Modu Mates that includes MP4 players, digital photo frames and cameras. One of the partners is car multimedia and navigation leader Blaupunkt.

Besides, some major network operators like Telecom Italia’s mobile division TIM, Russia’s BeeLine and Cellcom in Israel are currently working with Modu Mobile. We might see the first Modu products by fourth quarter of this year.

This user-friendly Modu phone can be used just about anywhere in the world.
