Philips Diamond-Encrusted Ambilight FlatTV announced in India

Philips Electronics has introduced the one-of-its kind diamond-encrusted Ambilight FlatTV in Inida. The TV was unveiled by model-turned-actor, Katrina Kaif.

The 42-inch diamond-encrusted Ambilight LCD HDTV, which comes with 225 carats of close to 2,250 individual diamonds set into a graceful stylized floral pattern around the edges of the frame, has been developed by Philips in collaboration with New-York-based jewelry company A.Link.

To celebrate the millionth Ambilight FlatTV, Philips has created this unique set that will be shown at different events around the world and finally auctioned off to charity later in 2007 at the exceptionally expensive cost of $ 1,50,000 (approx. Rs. 60,00,000).

It demonstrates that consumers are seeking an exceptional viewing experience which only Ambilight as either ‘excellent’ or ‘very good’. We are proud to host the Diamond Ambilight FlatTV in India and showcase its artistic brilliance,” expressed S Nagaranjan, Vice President, Consumer Electronics Division, Philips Electronics India.

With this announcement, Philips also launched its latest range of Ambilight FlatTV that features new LED illumination and proprietary Perfect Pixel HD Engine technologies.

The full HD screen display provides a resolution of 1920x1080pixels for high picture quality. Users can also use the HDTV to watch the action on gaming consoles, Blu-ray Disc players and media center PCs. An innovative LED light sources make it possible for the HDTV to be more energy efficient. Along with the more vivid, immersive viewing experience with enhanced contrast and colors, the FlatTV also has the ability to perfectly blend the system into the living room decors.

In fact, Philips is expecting 40-50 percent greater volumes in the festive season this year a compared to last year.”
