Wahoo Blue HR

The Wahoo Blue HR Bluetooth heart rate monitor is here to help users who have been trying to lose that extra flab, with a little assistance from a smartphone. It is said to be capable of transforming the iPhone 4S as well as other Bluetooth Smart Ready phones into a training partner.

The device offers the real time heart rate of users on their smartphones. Besides the Wahoo Fitness app, it works in conjunction with several applications like MapMyFitness, 321Run, MotionX, Runmeter and RunKeeper, which are already available for download through the Apple App Store. The company says some more apps for this fitness gadget will be released next year.

“So many smartphone fitness monitors limit you to using their own smartphone application. Wahoo has been working with the top fitness app developers on other smartphone fitness monitors for years, so the Blue HR is simply the next step. Our partnerships allow users to easily incorporate all their fitness data into the app they already know and love. Whether you log your miles on Runkeeper, MapMyRide, or one of the other top 100 fitness apps, the Blue HR will seamlessly integrate your heart rate data into the interface of your choice,” commented Chip Hawkins, CEO of Wahoo Fitness.

As the Wahoo Blue HR is a Bluetooth certified device, it provides heart rate information to the smartphone wirelessly. It claims to generate accurate heart rate information besides letting users know how much calories they burned in the workout sessions. It can also be used along with an optional Wahoo Armband that safeguards the iPhone, while offering full touchscreen access. When utilized with the fitness application, it promises to bring phone, heart rate information, GPS maps, music and more in one place.

The Wahoo Blue HR priced at $79.99 (approx. Rs. 4,215), will be available in January next year.
