Sony has released a number of electronic products at the ongoing Cedia Expo 2011 . These range from audio/video receivers and televisions to speakers and projectors. A 4K home projector, personal 3D viewer, network speaker, Internet television and AV receivers are also among the wide collection of newly launched devices.

The new STR-DA5700ES and STR-DA3700ES AV receivers come integrated with Faroujda 1080p upscaling and a variety of apps for iOS and Android devices. These ES receivers offer a full range of Bravia internet streaming services for music and video content. Streaming options such as Sony Entertainment Network, Netflix, YouTube and Pandora, among many others are presented to users. The STR-DA5700ES delivers DLNA client capability and features automatic phase matching and speaker relocation technologies.

“We came to Cedia to reinforce our commitment to being the leading provider of quality entertainment solutions for the high-end and custom install channels,” said Mike Abary, senior vice president of Sony Electronics’ Home Division. “Sony’s Elevated Standard (also known as ES) line and the other new products on display at the show epitomize innovation, quality, and style, and also highlight Sony’s legacy in this channel. We’re also adding resources to support our leading service programs and working with channel partners to provide dedicated support and training that no other company can match.”

The VPL-VW1000ES 4K home theater projector claims to deliver a rich, superior visual experience because of its resolution which is said to be four times stronger than that of an HDTV. Possessing 2,000 ANSI-lumens of brightness, the device integrates a new SXRD 4K panel that provides deep black levels and is capable of an incredible 1,000,000:1 dynamic contrast.

It comes equipped with an exclusive 4K ‘upscaler’ which reportedly enhances SD, HD, 2D and 3D content and allows users to view 4K playback even from their existing media libraries. With this new projector, users can not only enjoy Full HD 3D movies but also 2D and 3D anamorphic films. The integrated IR transmitter aids in the operation of the TDG-PJ1 active shutter 3D glasses. Installation options like dual triggers, a 2.1 motorized zoom, expanded throw distances, an RS232 interface, control over IP and compatibility with most of the home automation systems are also presented to users. This 4K home theater projector will soon be available at a price of $3,699.99 (approx. Rs. 1, 71,562).

Claiming to be the first wearable OLED HD/3D TV, Sony’s personal 3D viewer head-mounted display, the HMZ-T1, is compact enough to be clipped onto the head and enjoy 3D films in seemingly cutting edge quality. It is said to deliver HD video with high contrast and fast refresh rates. Incorporated with the company’s signal processing technology, it powers two integrated headphones and offers surround sound to accompany the 3D visuals. This viewer has been priced at $799 (approx. Rs. 37,048).

The NSX-GT1 Internet television powered by Google TV, and select Bravia LED LCD TVs are some of the other interesting solutions which will be showcased by Sony at the Cedia Expo this year. There is also the battery-powered SA-NS500 Wi-Fi Network Speaker priced at $399 (approx. Rs. 18,500). Almost all of these devices are scheduled to start shipping from November.
