Users of televisions and Blu-ray players which are connected with the latest Adobe AIR 3 can now enjoy DTS surround sound on these devices. This has been made possible due to a strategic collaboration between Adobe and DTS.

Adobe AIR 3 will be optimized to be compatible with all profiles of DTS-HD codecs, including Master Audio with higher bit-rate as well as DTS Express which is developed mainly for web connected eco-systems. With DTS Express, content distributors will be able to deliver stereo, 5.1, and 7.1 surround sound with bit-rates ranging from 48 kbps up to 512 kbps.

“More than 100 digital home devices are now certified to support Adobe Flash and AIR. With the ability in AIR 3 to pass DTS-encoded content to decoders on connected TVs and Blu-ray players, content publishers and developers are able to deliver powerful, high definition audio experiences with rich video and immersive surround sound,” explained Florian Pestoni, group product manager at Adobe.

This development was announced at the recently kicked off Adobe MAX conference. The conference also saw the unveiling of the Adobe AIR 3 along with the Flash Player 11. The AIR 3 will also enable Flash-based applications with high definition (HD) video and up to 7.1 channels. With all this, users will be also able to enjoy Flash supported visuals in surround sound.

The Adobe AIR 3, supported by DTS surround sound, is now available for download.
