The newly announced water-resistant Sony HDR-GW77V is designed to record videos and capture still frames in almost any setting. The gadget not only boasts of the ability to survive in moist conditions, but also flaunts shockproof and dustproof abilities that make it even more durable.

Being equipped with an Exmor R-CMOS sensor and in-built Sony G-lenses, the device records content in full HD video format and shoots stills in 20.4MP resolutions. Moreover, it survives under water up to 16 feet. The Sony camcorder is deployed with a 3″ Xtra Fine LCD touchscreen that functions under water with the aid of the ‘Underwater Mode.’ Additionally, this feature adjusts the white balance that composes colors to offer a natural underwater appearance.

It provides a 10x optical zoom range clubbed with a 17x maximum magnification that retains the HD quality of the image. Additionally, the integrated 16GB memory stores up to 4 hours of HD recording. For wide angle recording and still photography, the camcorder offers a 29.8mm focal length.

The recorded content can be directly hoarded to external storage devices like Memory Stick Pro Duo, SD or SDHC media cards. Furthermore, features like Optical SteadyShot, iAuto, Tracking Focus, Self Portrait Timer, Highlight Playback and Event Browse, clubbed with a GPS receiver, Navteq maps and PlayMemory Online services are thrown in to the mix.

The Sony HDR-GW77V price is $700 (approx. Rs. 38,794) and fans will be able to pick it up via the company’s official website, retail outlets and authorized vendors throughout the US this month.
