Amazon has proudly announced that the Kindle Fire, which was introduced almost 11 weeks ago, has made its position as the bestselling device across the eRetailing website. Also, the company has revealed that all Kindle gadgets have been consistently selling at a rate of 1 million per week for the past three weeks.

The new Kindle family by Amazon comprises of the Kindle, Kindle Touch, and Kindle Touch 3G eReaders, along with the Kindle Fire which was launched recently. All these devices feature within the sub $200 range and offer access to several services by Amazon. With the exception of the Fire tablet, each of these gadgets are graced with a 6-inch eInk Pearl display. The Fire possesses a 7-inch vibrant color IPS touchscreen.

“Kindle Fire is the most successful product we’ve ever launched – it’s the bestselling product across all of Amazon for 11 straight weeks, we’ve already sold millions of units, and we’re building millions more to meet the high demand. In fact, demand is accelerating – Kindle Fire sales increased week over week for each of the past three weeks,” asserts Dave Limp, Vice President, Amazon Kindle.

“People are buying Kindle Fire because it’s a simple, fully-integrated service that makes it easy to do the things they love – watch movies, read books and magazines, listen to music, download apps, play games, and surf the web. Our family of Kindle e-ink readers is close behind Kindle Fire on the Amazon.com bestseller list. Customers continue to report preferring their Kindle e-reader for long-form reading, and in fact we’ve seen many customers buy two Kindles – both a Kindle Fire and a Kindle or Kindle Touch – this holiday season,” continues Limp.

Although the memory capacities of all the said devices differ within a range of 2GB to 8GB, the integrated access to Amazon cloud storage provides ample hoarding space for thousands of books as well as other multimedia content. Additionally, the introduction of the Kindle Owner’s Lending Library lets enthusiasts borrow books from a vast database, without having to buy them.

The Kindle, Kindle Touch, Kindle Touch 3G along with Kindle Fire are currently selling on the Amazon website for prices of $79 (approx. Rs. 4,170), $99(approx. Rs. 5,230), $149(approx. Rs. 7,870) and $199(approx. Rs. 10,510), respectively.
