Mercury ‘Black Eagle’ GPS Navigation Unit launched in Korea

Korean manufacturer Mercury has introduced its newest GPS navigation unit, the Black Eagle that incorporates a Black Box.

Black Eagle GPS System

The entertainment-cum-safety functioned GPS system provides sensors that help the driver to drive safely in lane changing and traffic congestion routes by just an alert. A built-in camera informs the user about the vehicle in front.

Black Box allows to record the final moments before an accident occurs. About 18 seconds of video recording of the accident is possible. The system can also store 12 seconds of video before the accident and 6 seconds after the accident. Moreover, it will also try to warn you if it thinks you’re heading for an accident.

Just incase if you are confused assuming that the GPS can monitor accident 12 seconds in advance, then you are wrong. It allows you to rewind back 12 seconds after the incident.

The features of the Black Eagle include Mando’s ‘Mappy United’ map software, DMB recording, TV-out and USB 2.0 port. It supports POP (picture out picture), PIP (picture in picture) and NIP (navigation in picture).

Mercury’s ‘Black Eagle’ GPS Navigation Unit is slated to be available in late July for 589,000KRW (approx. Rs. 25,720) in the Korean market.
