On Monday, Garmin introduced the nuvi 260 GPS System, an improved version of its previous model, nuvi 250. The most impressive feature of the new GPS system is its voice ID for street names. That means it speaks out the name of the upcoming street rather than just providing an upcoming distance.

The nuvi 260 GPS system incorporates a 3.5-inch touchscreen display.

Besides, the system incorporates an extra-large database of Canadian and US maps with 6 million points of interest. Also the device features the photo viewer, calculator, currency converter and a world clock.

The SD slot has been provided for the memory expansion.

“Many potential PND customers want an entry-level Garmin PND, and many realize the convenience and utility of a device that speaks an upcoming street name. The nuvi 260 is for them,” said Dan Bartel, Garmin’s vice president of worldwide sales.

“The nuvi 200-series has established itself as the gold standard for simple yet solid navigation, and the nuvi 260 only reinforces that,” he added.

The Garmin nuvi 260 GPS system comes along with a car mounting kit for $500 (approx Rs. 20,185).
