Sony PSP Outsells Nintendo DS

Sony PSP No. 1 in Japan

Recently we had reported that the Nintendo Wii had outsold other gaming consoles, namely Microsoft’s Xbox 360 and Sony’s PlayStation 3 in Japan. But in the race of portable players, Sony’s PSP is doing well.

According to Media Create, a research firm, Sony’s PlayStation Portable (PSP) gaming device has managed to sell more than Nintendo’s DS in the Japanese market.

The report says that for the week ending September 16, the PSP managed to sell 95,487 units, which is a massive jump of nearly 80,000 units over the previous week.

Whereas, Nintendo DS could sell only 79,974 unit, which usually manages to sell above 1,00,000 units weekly in Japan.

However, the Nintendo Wii is still at the first position with the sale of 26,181 units. Sony sold 13,128 units of PlayStation 2 and 13,101 units of PlayStation3. Microsoft still no where in competition, managed to sell only 1,243 units of its Xbox 360.
