PlayStation 3 Sales Risen Due to Price Cut

Price Cut Boost the Sales of PS3

Sony US has recorded the improvement in the sales of PlayStation 3 consoles from the day of its price cut. Last month Sony had announced the price cut of regular PS3 by $100 i.e. now PS3 is available at $499 in US. This price cut was applicable from November 2. At the same time even 40 GB model of the PS3 console was introduced in the market.

In a week ended on Novemeber 11, Sony sold more than 1,00,000 of all types. Earlier ony used to sell between 30,000 and 40,000 consoles per week.

Sony Corp. CEO Howard Stringer told The Associated Press that the price cut has made the PS3 competitice against Nintendo’s Wii and Microsoft’s Xbox 360.

“It’s the breakthrough we’ve been anticipating. We’ve been holding our breath,” Sony Corp. CEO Howard Stringer said yesterday.

“Obviously, we’ve taken so much heat over the year on PS3. Finally, the turning point has been passed,” he added.

According to figures recorded, Sony has sold more than five million PS3 consoles worldwide till October 2007. The console was launched late last year in Japan and US. While, Microsoft could sell 11.6 million Xbox 360 conoles in two years.
