The LG 5-inch 1080p HD LCD smartphone panel arrives with claims of being the highest resolution display of its ilk. Believed to be ‘the next major internet trend,’ the 5-inch screen should work towards enhancing the cloud computing experience.

The smartphone display, spotted by Engadget, makes use of the Advanced High Performance In-Plane Switching or AH-IPS technology, and brings in HDTV picture quality with 1920 x 1080p resolutions and 440ppi. Boasting of a widescreen aspect ratio of 16:9, it is 2.2 times denser in pixels and as much as 1.3 times advanced in terms of ppi, when compared to the older 4.5-inch panel with 1280 x 720p resolutions and 329ppi.

“As smartphones become increasingly valued for how well they do multimedia and with the rapid growth of LTE enabling faster large file transfers, our new 5″ Full HD LCD panel is certain to prove a significant asset to the mobile market. With the world’s highest resolution smartphone display, LG Display continues to remain a step ahead in developing the most innovative in display technology products,” stated Sang-Deok Yeo, CTO and Executive Vice President of LG Display.

This AH-IPS display’s high density refrains users from being able to distinguish between individual pixels through the naked eyes. At the same time, it accurately projects original colors of images. Besides offering a wider viewing angle and stable images, the panel is said to provide a faster multi-touch response too. Moreover, it renders clear images in brightly lit surroundings and cuts back on power consumption.

The LG 5-inch 1080p HD LCD smartphone panel will be exhibited at the SID 2012 Display Week from June 4. It is slated to be released in the second half of 2012.
