Casio announced that it has developed a new 2 inch TFT LCD that features a huge number of pixels thus offering 960×540 resolution.
Casio has developed this new LCD using HAST (Hyper Amorphous Silicon TFT) technology. This technology enriches the screen with a viewing angle of 160 degrees and 16.7 million colors. We will soon be able to watch HD content on mobile phones, thanks to Casio.
The amount of transmissive light loss has been reduced with a new structure based on a wiring design that involves multi-layered wiring for transistors and their surrounds. Even with a reduction in dot pitch to a small 15.5 micrometers, it has been possible to maintain light aperture.
There has been no word on the pricing and availability.
