AUO to Showcase Green Technology for TFT-LCD TVs, at SID 2008

AUO LCD TV Taiwan-based TFT LCD panels manufacturer, AU Optronics (also known as AUO) has announced its plan to present the new TFT-LCD TVs that have been developed under its latest cutting-edge Green Innovations, at SID (Society for Information Display) 2008.

In this exhibition, the company will display its unique large-sized green panels with LED and energy-saving technologies. The range includes an ultra-slim 42-inch LCD that offers a less than 10mm thick ultra slim frame.

Dr. B.D. Liu, Vice President of the AUO Technology Center explained, “Our four major domains of green innovations are Energy Saving, Material Saving, Environment Friendly and Lean Design. These four principles will not only drive future innovation and development trends, but will also become competitive advantages for AUO in providing customers high value-added green products.”

The eco-friendly 42-inch LCD TV installs high dynamic contrast to enhance the contrast ratio above 200,000:1 with the help of 16×8 LED blocks to allow a local dimming function. It also provides a high brightness at 450 nits with superb luminance and uniformity performance. Consumers can either mount the LCD TV or put it on a stand, depending on their convenience.

The other eco-friendly display product is a 46-inch ECO-Friendly LCD TV panel that boasts to consume 50% lesser power than the tradition panels. It has CCFL backlight unit design, 500 nits brightness and 5,000:1 ultra static high contrast ratio for better image quality.

Besides, AUO has also introduced a 20.1-inch ultra slim TFT-LCD that comes with a single connection cascade chip on glass architecture technology to save space and assembling time in an easy manner.

The Society for Information Display 2008 will be held from May 20 to 22 in Los Angeles, California.
