Lenovo ThinkVision Monitors Awarded with EPEAT Gold Certification

Lenovo and EPEAT Logos In the race of going green, Lenovo has achieved one more landmark. Nine of its ThinkVision monitors are now EPEAT Gold qualified. EPEAT, or “Electronic Product Environmental Assessment Tool,” is a highly sought environmental designations in the tech industry.

The EPEAT’s “Gold” designation is nothing but a certification for a product, stating that it does not harm nature in any way. For getting this designation, gadgets need to fulfill 23 “must have” criterions that involve eliminating environmentally harmful material, product longevity, energy conservation, performance etc.

The EPEAT Gold Certified displays are ThinkVision L151, L171, L171P, L194 Wide, L190X, L220X Wide, L174 and L197 Wide.

“Lenovo is leading the way in the current wave of environmental display improvements with the introduction of a full lineup of EPEAT Gold monitors, as well as more energy efficient 17 and 19 inch mainstream displays,” said Tom Shell, vice president, global visuals business unit.

Amongst them the ThinkVision L174 and L197 Wide are introduced especially to reduce power consumption. They consume 25-35 percent lesser electricity than the previous generation ThinkVision monitors.

The new L174 and L197 Wide is expected to ship in April or May 2008 at the approximate price of $259.99 (around Rs. 10,492).
