Lightweight Pentax Q interchangeable lens camera for pre-order

Pentax Q

The Pentax Q interchangeable lens camera has been announced recently and it is touted to be the world’s smallest and lightest camera while possessing DSLR functionalities.

The 12.4MP camera with 1/2.3-inch backlit CMOS image sensor produces DNG RAW and JPG images. Its Q-mount lens system allows mounting any Q lens for better imaging. The compact camera with a magnesium alloy scratch-resistant exterior integrates modes like Program, Aperture/Shutter priority, Metered Manual exposure control and Pentax Auto Picture with 21 modes with different lighting options. The Smart Effect options and the Quick Dial camera setting can be used to apply effects to the pictures. The camera is compatible with SD, SDHC, and SDXC memory cards.

The camera with a built-in flash and shutter speed ranging from 1/2000 to 30 seconds features in-camera HDR capture mode to shoot 3 images with different exposures and blends them. The Shake-Reduction system and DRII Dust Reduction helps capturing blur and dust free pictures. The Bokeh Control Filter helps highlighting the subject and its User mode allows customizing the favorite effects for instant use. The camera is also capable of recording HD videos at 1080p and 30frames/second and processes them at h.264 compression along with a continuous shooting mode of 5frames/second for fast action setting.

The camera comes with the Pentax 01 Standard Prime kit lens of 47mm focal length in 35mm format with a maximum aperture of F1.9 and integrated with two aspherical optical elements. The built-in Neutral Density (ND) filter facilitates shooting with open aperture and slow shutter speeds. Also, an optional shoe-mounted O-VF1 viewfinder for framing even in bright sunlight is offered with the camera.

The Pentax Q interchangeable lens camera in white or black shades along with a silver Standard Prime lens kit is available for pre-order and will be shipped to Japan and then to the United States during early fall this year. It carries a price tag of $800 (approx. Rs. 35,925) and the optional viewfinder is priced at $249.95 (approx. Rs. 11,225).
