Panasonic rolls in compact and lightweight lens H-F008

Panasonic H-F008 Lens

Photographers who love to click pictures of broad landscapes or just love capturing aperture settings in a wide hemispherical image have just got a sweet treat. Panasonic recently unboxed the Lumix G Fisheye 8mm/F3.5 lens, with a 35mm camera equivalent 16mm lens, compatible with the Lumix G Series, DSL Micro (DSLM) cameras.

Claimed to be the world’s smallest and lightest digital interchangeable fisheye lens, these lens provide a 180-degree diagonal angle view. The lens offers a distinctive perspective and unique deformation effect for a creative view for both photos and videos. Also, its ten lenses in nine groups ensure a compact size, which takes advantage of the Micro Four Thirds system standard to achieve dramatic downsizing.

“The addition of this lightweight Lumix fisheye lens gives photographers of all levels the ability to enjoy a range of photo-taking possibilities and expand their creativity. This lens is not only extremely compact, making it easy to carry, but it allows for photos and videos to be made both up close and from far away – while capturing truly creative images,” remarked Darin Pepple, Senior Product Manager, Imaging, Panasonic Consumer Electronics Company.

The Lumix G Fisheye 8mm lens has the capability to capture extreme close-ups from far away distances, due in part to its advanced inner focus system. The adoption of an ED (Extra-low dispersion glass) lens helps achieve a stable, descriptive performance at all distances. This minimizes chromatic aberration and distortion.

When mounted on the Panasonic Lumix G Series DSLM cameras, the lens allows for use of the high-speed and accurate contrast AF system. Utilization of seven blades on the lens gives the open space a rounded shape which produces an attractively smooth effect in out-of-focus areas. While shooting large and wide landscapes or aperture setting, a real-time lively effect is produced. By addition of a stepping motor, it ensures a smooth and silent focusing in both photo and movie recording modes.

The pricing and availability details of the Lumix G Fisheye 8mm/F3.5, the H-F008, lens will be announced 30 days prior to shipping.
