Sony launches a Range of AVCHD HDD Handycams Introduced

Sony announced an array of AVCHD HDD Handycams, namely HDR-XR520VE, HDR- XR200VE, HDR-XR105E, HDR-CX105E, DCR-SR37E, DCR-SX30E and DCR- DVD150E, ensuring unprecedented HD picture quality with leading-edge technologies.

The features of the Sony HDR-XR520VE include a 240 GB HDD memory stick, Exmor R CMOS sensor, BIONZ imaging processor, Sony G lens, 12x optical zoom, optical SteadyShot with new ‘Active’ mode, 5.1ch Dolby Digital audio system support, Automatic geotagging by GPS, Face detection, smile shutter and a 3.2-inch Fine LCD display.

The Sony HDR- XR200VE offers 80 GB HDD memory stick, Exmor CMOS sensor, BIONZ processor, Carl Zeiss Vario Sonnar T lens, 15x optical zoom, optical SteadyShot with new ‘Active’ mode, compatibility with a 5.1ch Dolby Digital audio system, GOS with automatic geotagging, Face detection with smile shutter and a 2.7-inch Clear Photo LCD.

The HDR-XR105E handycam bundles a 80 GB HDD memory stick, Exmor CMOS sensor, BIONZ imaging processor, Carl Zeiss Vario-Tessar lens, 10x optical zoom, Electronic SteadyShot, support for 5.1ch Dolby Digital audio system, face detection with smile shutter and a 2.7-inch Clear Photo LCD.

The HDR-CX105E comes equipped with an 8 GB internal memory with support for expandable memory stick, Exmor C MOS sensor, BIONZ processor, Carl Zeiss Vario-Tessar lens, 10x optical zoom, Electronic SteadyShot, 5.1ch Dolby Digital audio system, face detection with smile shutter and a 2.7-inch Clear Photo LCD.

The DCR-SR37E highlights include a 60 GB memory stick, CCD support, Carl Zeiss Vario-Tessar lens, 60x optical zoom, Electronic SteadyShot, 5.1ch Dolby Digital audio system and a 2.7-inch LCD screen.

While the Sony DCR-SX30E handycam sports a 4 GB internal memory with memory stick, CCD support, Carl Zeiss Vario-Tessar lens, 60x optical zoom, Electronic SteadyShot, 5.1ch Dolby Digital audio system and a 2.7-inch LCD screen.

Lastly, the Sony DCR- DVD150E handycam comes with features like an 8cm DVD-R/-RW/+RW/+RDL with support for memory stick, CCD support, Carl Zeiss Vario-Tessar lens, 60x optical zoom, Electronic SteadyShot, 5.1ch Dolby Digital audio system and a 2.7-inch LCD screen.

All the new handycams include Quick Start-up that flips the LCD from standby mode to shoot instantly, Auto Backlight Correction, Exposure and D-Range Optimiser settings. Apart from that, the compact new VRD-P1 DVDirect Express connects to ’09 Standard Definition HDD and Memory Stick Sony Handycam models via USB to burn a blank DVD.

The new Sony Handycam range of High Definition and Standard Definition camcorders are expected to be available from February 2009. Price and markets are not known.
