Samsung launches an array of digital cameras that comprises of IT100, PL65, PL50, ES10 and ES15. The first two models are point-and-shoot cameras, whereas the last three ones are said to be user-friendly shooters.
Starting with the point-and-shoot cameras, the IT100 digital camera is bundled with 28mm lens, a distinct HD movie mode, a high resolution recording capability at 720p, HDMI connectivity and H.264 compression. The PL65 camera employs a standard 35mm lens and supports advanced MPEG-4 video recording at a resolution of 640×480 pixels.
Both the 12.2 mega-pixel cameras feature a large 3-inch LCD screen, a 5x optical zoom, Optical and Digital Image Stabilization. For better image capturing experience, the two digital shooters pack in Red-eye Fix, Face Detection, Blink Detection, Smile Shot and Beauty Shot.
Some of the other functions include Smart Auto mode to choose one scene mode from the available 11 scene modes and Samsung’s patent Smart Album program.
The Samsung IT100 shines in silver, mid gray, arty red and midnight colors, whereas the Samsung PL65 wears black, silver, gray and pink colors.
ChoongHyun Hwang, Vice President of Strategic Marketing at Samsung Digital Imaging Company, noted “The new IT100 and PL65 offer longer zooms, larger LCD screens and HD video – which are all features traditionally associated with higher-priced and higher-end digital cameras.â€
Coming to the user-friendly models, the PL50 and ES15 as well as ES10 cameras offer a 3x optical zoom and Digital Image Stabilization. Users can also record MJPEG videos at VGA resolution with a frame rate of 30fps.
While the PL50 and ES15 cameras are equipped with a resolution of 10 megapixels, the ES10 has an 8 megapixels resolution.
Housed in a stylish design with a brushed metal finish, the Samsung PL50 camera comes embedded with a 2.7-inch LCD screen, the Smart Auto mode, Smart Album program, Face Detection, Blink Detection, Smile Shot and Beauty Shot technologies.
The ES15 and ES10 cameras include only the Face Detection and Beauty shot technologies in addition to a 2.5-inch LCD display.
Hwang added, “Affordability and simplicity are usually top of mind for the entry-level digital photographer in search of a new point-and-shoot, but that shouldn’t mean that they have to sacrifice quality or give up features when it comes to the camera they choose.â€
The Samsung IT100, PL65, ES15 and ES10 digital cameras are slated to roll out by March 2009 and the PL50 camera is already available in the market.
