Arecont Vision introduces Compact MagaFlash Camera

Arecont Vision Logo With efforts to net photography zealots’ heart, Arecont Vision has recently unveiled new compact cameras with MegaFlash technology in 1.3, 2, 3 or 5 megapixel formats. The transcendent MegaFlash camera series was showcased at the 12th Annual China Public Security Expo (CPSE) Show in Shenzhen, China.

Employing smart MegaFlash technology, the most recently exhibited compact cameras can capture megapixel-quality snapshots utilizing a high-speed shutter synched with an external strobe light. The intelligent integration is particularly executed for license plate recognition (LPR) and intelligent transportation system (ITS) applications. These effectual cameras can even capture images of vehicles traveling up to 100 miles per hour.

“Megapixel CMOS cameras provide exceptional frame-rate and image clarity benefits for license plate recognition. However, the use of CMOS megapixel camera technology in LPR and ITS applications has been impeded by its inability to synchronize with a flash strobe, due to the lack of global shutter in conventional CMOS sensors. Introduction of sophisticated high-speed shutter in the camera effectively addresses this problem, opening exciting possibilities with new applications in the transportation vertical with LPR and ITS requirements. The new compact MegaFlash cameras further expand what is already the broadest megapixel product line in the industry,” explained Michael Kaplinsky, CEO, Arecont Vision.

To notify, MegaFlash is rigged with an automatic camera calibration for enduring an extensive range of strobe lights while a network request or the input/output connector can significantly trigger the 1 millisecond speed shutter. Further, depending upon the recharge time, the 1.3 megapixel model (AV1310MF) can capture up to 15 images per second (ips), the 2MP (AV2110MF) up to 10 ips while the 3MP (AV3110MF) can capture up to 7 ips and the 5MP (AV5110MF) up to 4 ips.

The tempting compact MegaFlash cameras are slated to be available in the first quarter of 2010. Well, the pricing structure isn’t revealed yet.
