PENTAX announces Waterproof Digital Camera Optio W60

PENTAX launches a waterproof digital camera called Optio W60. Capture all the rainy moments and you can even go clicking in the snow, swimming pools and beaches without the fear of damaging the device.

The PENTAX Optio W60 digital camera poses in Ocean Blue and Silver color featuring a 10 megapixel camera and 5x zoom lens that offer 28mm wide-angle. It is extremely light and can be used up to 13 feet under water for almost 2 hours. Its non protruding 5X optical lens covering focal lengths from 5mm to 25mm, captures scenic locations up to wider range in confined spaces as well as close up shots. With a focal length of 21mm in 35mm format, an ultra wide angle image can be captured with the wide function merging two shots into one.

On comparing to the previous PENTAX waterproof devices this one offers better and deeper underwater photography. Its improved design and built of controls, shutter button and airtight joints have enhanced its performance. It also provides protection against dust and sand with the JIS Class 5 dustproof. JIS Class 8 provides the waterproofing.

PENTAX Optio W60 also features a High-Quality Movie mode (1280 x 720 pixels), Auto Picture mode, Blink Detection, fast Face Recognition, Smile Capture, Anti-Reflection, Underwater Movie mode, High Sensitivity Digital SR mode and LCD monitor with 170 degree wide-angle view.

The Optio W60 will be available in July 2008 and is priced at US $329.95.
