GE Digital Cameras can now be bought from Amazon

Amazon GE cameras GE expands its agreement with Amazon, an online retailer, to make the entire line of 2008 digital cameras via the store. The latest release includes entry-level A series, the mid-price E series, and the ultra-compact G series of digital cameras.

All these series of GE cameras come in standard colors, including black, silver or red. However, the company does offer other vibrant colors restricted to some models only. Enclosed in a sleek and intuitive design, the latest lineup of cameras adds high-end features such as face detection, image stabilization, red-eye removal, 1600 ISO sensitivity, and panorama stitching to “see the bigger picture” by flawlessly merging three images together.

“We’re delighted to offer our products through Amazon.com. Amazon has continued its amazing growth through 2007 and now into 2008, and we’re happy to be a part of it,” expressed Hiroshi “Hugh” Komiya, Chairman and CEO of General Imaging.

Furthermore, these models also employ blink detection and smile detection for users to capture just the right moment when taking shots of your friends, family and loved ones. In the blink detection functionality, the camera informs the user that the subject’s eyes were shut and needs another attempt. As soon as the subject smiles, the smile detection feature makes sure that the image is taken by tripping the shutter automatically.

“Many of our customers appreciate the convenience and selection of online shopping, and Amazon.com is obviously a leader in that category. We think e-commerce will continue its strong growth, so it’s a perfect place for us to extend our brand,” mentioned Rene Buhay, General Imaging’s Senior Vice president of Sales and Marketing for the Americas.

GE has announced that one model termed as E1050 may be due to its standard features and functionalities. The digital camera provides touchscreen controls, high-definition video capture, and HDMI connectivity to attach to the HDTV sets. This camera is slated to roll out in June this year. Moreover, E1050 also comes in a GPS-enabled version, which has the ability to identify precisely where photos are taken. This model is scheduled to release by this fall.
