FLAPcam, a Clamshell Digital Camera Concept Design unveiled

FLAPcam Concept Design
Nowadays, we have clamshell mobile phones. So why haven’t we had a clamshell digital camera? Well, a designer has just created a concept of a camera with a clamshell design that is meant to protect the camera’s LCD display. Aptly called the FLAPcam, when folded up, the lens, display and buttons are protected against dirt and scratches, and when opened out you can view images.

According to designer Matthias Lange, “The innovative way to use the FLAMcam is supported by an unusual visual language that encourages the user to interact with the camera in a playful way.”

In fact, a design like this negates the need for a case as long as you remember to flip it around when shooting. Besides, the hinge can flip open partially, so the user can take pictures of himself at a good angle.

Although it has not yet been announced whether the FLAPcam will go into production anytime soon, it will most certainly be welcomed by all.
