Pentax Optio A40 and V10 Digi Cam

Pentax has introduced two digital cameras to extend the Optio series, dubbed the Optio A40 and Optio V10.

The Optio A40 is the new member of ‘Optio A’ series compact digital cameras. It is the first digital camera that comes with 2.0 effective megapixels for ultra high-definition images. It also sports 21MB of built-in memory, 12 megapixels sensor resolution, SMC Pentax-branded 3x optical zoom lens and 2.5″ LCD display with a higher than average 232,000 pixel resolution.

The features of the Pentax Optio A40 include a large, 1/1.7-inch CCD that has a wide light receiving area that is superior in tone reproduction, three type of Shake Reduction (SR) including mechanical, digital and movie versions. It also offers highly corrective effects that are equivalent to shutter speeds of approximately 2.5 to 3.5 steps can be achieved.

Furthermore, the A40 also supports high-speed USB 2.0 and NTSC / PAL video, and images are stored on Secure Digital / MultiMediaCards, including newer SDHC types. It provides Shutter-priority and Manual exposure modes, plus a generous selection of scene modes.

The Pentax Optio V10 digital camera features Pentax-branded 3x optical zoom lens that delivers tight wide angle 36mm equivalent to a 108mm equivalent telephoto. It also offers an eight megapixel imager and huge 3.0-inch LCD display that has 230,000 pixels.

In addition, the V10 also sports twelve scene modes, power from a proprietary Lithium-ion rechargeable battery or optional AC adapter, and SD / MMC card storage plus 52.1MB of built-in memory. It also supports USB 2.0 High-Speed computer connectivity and NTSC / PAL video that has to ability to allow the user to view photos or movies on TV.

The Pentax Optio A40 digital camera is planned to be available from October 2007 with the suggested price of $300 (approx. Rs. 12,000). The Pentax Optio V10 digital camera is slated to roll out from November and will retail for $250 (approx. Rs. 10,000).
