The two new camcorders have the ability to record detailed moving images with 1920 x 1080 pixel definition, offering compactness and high image quality.

“Panasonic made an epoch in home videos when we introduced the HDC-SD1, the world’s first SD/SDHC Memory Card based HD camcorder, last year. Because SD-based camcorders contain no moving parts for capturing and storing images, they offer outstanding resistance to impact and dust. By employing the SD/SDHC Memory Cards, we made camcorders more compact, light, durable, easy to use and versatile with connectivity with other audio-visual equipment with SD/SDHC card slots. The new models push the boundaries of HD home video even further,” said Shigenobu Hirahara, Associate Director, Corporate Marketing Division of Panasonic Brand in Japan.

Measuring 52 x 110 x 87 mm, the HDC-SD7 has a volume of 330cc and weighs 290g. It can record up to 90 minutes of HD video and save it on a 4GB SDHC memory card.

The Hybrid-typed HDC-SX5 can record up to 150 minutes of HD video, where 60 minutes of recording can be saved on a DVD-R dual layer (DL) disc and the rest of the 90 minutes of video can be saved on 4GB SDHC memory card. It also offers an easy, one-touch copy function to copy video clips from SD/SDHC Memory Card to a DVD disc by pressing the “Disc Copy”. For this, the user need not attach the camcorder to a PC or other equipment.

The common features of the 3CCD full-HD camcorders include an incorporated advanced Optical Image Stabilizer that can detect and compensates hand-blur about 4,000 times a second, 10x optical zoom Leica Dicomar lens, Pre-Rec function to capture three seconds of the anticipated sudden movement. This gets saved into an internal memory.

Available in 4GB and 8GB SDHC memory card with Class 6 speed specification, it gives speed depending on the SDCH memory card.

Panasonic 3CCD Full-HD Camcorders will be available in Japan. The HDC-SD7 will start shipping from 15th September and HDC-SX5 will hit stores on 8th September.
