New iMac price and release date announced, arriving on November 30

Apple has finally announced price and release date details of the 21.5-inch new iMac which made its first appearance about a month ago along with devices such as the iPad mini, fourth generation iPad and Mac mini. This system’s 27-inch sibling is gearing up to take markets by storm in December, but its exact launch data is not known.

The redesigned Mountain Lion-based computer claims to cram in high performance technology into a sleek form factor, measuring not more than 5mm in thickness at the edges. It is constructed using aluminum as well as glass and employs an LED backlit display, powered by the IPS technology. This screen of 1920 x 1080p resolution can reduce reflection by up to 75 percent to deliver clear images.

Performance-wise, the device packs in a punch in the form of 8GB of RAM and Intel Core i5 processors. Users also have the option of configuring it with the latest generation i7 CPUs and 16GB of RAM. Its advanced visual performance can be attributed to the Nvidia GeForce graphics processor.

While the new iMac is already integrated with a 1TB hard drive, it can be customized with a Fusion Drive of up to 1TB capacity. This new storage device is a combination of a flash drive as well as a standard HDD complete with a built-in file manager. Moreover, the Apple PC is embedded with a FaceTime HD camera that supports extended desktop and video mirroring modes.

Packaged along with a wireless keyboard, a mouse and a glass multi-touch trackpad, the Wi-Fi-enabled PC system has been deployed with Bluetooth 4.0 as well. It sports stereo speakers, a microphone and a headset jack in addition to other connectivity options like four USB 3.0 ports, two Thunderbolt ports, a mini DisplayPort, a Gigabit Ethernet and an SDXC card slot.

The 21.5-inch new iMac equipped with a 2.7GHz processor carries a price tag of $1,299, while the one featuring a 2.9GHz one costs $1,499. Their prices in India are Rs. 85,900 and Rs. 99,900, respectively. Its 27-inch version with 2.9GHz and 3.2GHz CPUs will be available for $1,799 and $1,999 in the US and for Rs. 122,900 and Rs. 134,900 in India, correspondingly.
