Motorola HMC3260 is an Android-based ‘cloud computer’

Motorola Desktop

Sliding past those innumerable Android smartphones, the all new Motorola HMC3260 desktop has been launched for home entertainment. The company has partnered with WASU in China to allow streaming of cloud-based content covering games and movies to the touchscreen interface.

The device shows off an 18.5-inch LED touch panel proffering visuals in a resolution of 1366 × 768p. It has been tailored to render a 16:9 aspect ratio. Coming to its Android angle, the ‘cloud computer’ is powered by Gingerbread. Pity it’s not snacking on Jelly Bean.

“The Motorola HMC3260 not only provides subscribers with a fast broadband connection, it also enables them to enjoy a range of cloud-based services provided by WASU, including games, high-definition television and movies, web browsing and more,” expressed Kevin Keefe, Vice President & regional general manager of Motorola‘s Home Division, Asia.

Cloud Broadband Device

“The powerful touchscreen interface capitalizes on the power and flexibility of Android to enable WASU to differentiate itself from operators who only offer a pipeline for data. It is an important step toward our vision of a smart, simple, connected home,” added Keefe.

Leaning on 1GB RAM, the desktop device provides 4GB of internal memory and it is equipped with an ARM Cortex A8 processor with 1GHz clock speeds. Owing to WASU integration, potential users can get access to a host of content covering high-definition games, media content, utilities and so on. The PC-pretender has been designed for home usage in order to serve as a compact desktop streaming a wide catalog of cloud-based content.

The Motorola HMC3260 price and release date details have not been revealed as of now.
