HP workstation with Six-core AMD Opteron processor

HP has integrated Six-Core AMD Opteron 2400 series processor into its series of workstations. The HP xw9400 Workstation is said to be apt for fields that employ high-quality workstations for greater productivity like engineering, oil, gas, 3-D digital content creation and science.

This workstation utilizes the power of AMD Opteron processors for higher productivity. It can accommodate maximum two Six-Core AMD Opteron processors, resulting into total 12 cores. Each core delivers 34 percent more performance per watt as compared to the earlier generation quad-core processors.

Additionally, AMD HyperTransport 3.0 technology (HT3) allows the entire system to provide superior performance by enhancing interconnect rates from 2 gigatransfers per second (GT/s) up to 4.8 GT/s. The HP xw9400 can be configured with the ATI FirePro V7750 3-D workstation graphics accelerator.

The HP xw9400 workstation includes an 80 PLUS power supply. This minimizes both the amount of waste heat released and the overall energy usage. This HP workstation is claimed to be an Electronic Products Environmental Assessment Tool (EPEAT) Gold product. All HP workstations sport a tool-less chassis design for quick and easy manual upgrades. Moreover, they are claimed to be more than 90 percent recyclable by weight.
