Belkin OmniViewIP 5200K Series KVM Switches

Belkin introduces two new KVM-over-IP switches that expand the OmniViewIP 5200K Series KVM Switches. Called the OmniViewIP 5216K KVM Switch and OmniViewIP 5232K KVM Switch, both the peripherals allow two remote IT administrators to concurrently monitor and control up to 32 servers.

Ideal for SMBs with remote offices or remote users, these dual-user switches are packed with enhanced attributes that include rapid video synchronization and compatibility with both Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox&reg. The two models promise to offer IT professionals with real-time, BIOS-level access to local and remote IT assets.

With the virtual media support from remote management, the switches allow users to mount a local USB or a CD-ROM resource to the remote server, offering true lights-out management. The inclusion of OmniViewIP viewer technology enables seamless control while switching between attached servers.

As for the Rapid Synchronization is concerned, the feature endows with instantaneous video synchronization through all resolution/refresh-rate changes for always-on video capabilities during boot-up process. Further, both the KVM switches are compatible with BIOS-Level Access that provides connectivity throughout the entire operating-system boot-up cycle for remote troubleshooting at the time of critical BIOS process.

Supporting Remote Serial Access, users can attach two external serial devices into the integrated ports. It also enables tunnel access for Command Line Interface (CLI) devices. There is also Centralized Management that facilitates both the switches to effortlessly assimilate with OmniViewIP HQ Centralized Access Appliance to manage multiple serial console servers, IP-based power and other assets through a single access portal.

Expected to reach the US stores by mid-April 2009, the OmniViewIP 5216K KVM Switch (F1DP216G) costs $2099 (approx. Rs. 106,945) and the OmniViewIP 5232K KVM Switch (F1DP232G) retails for $3199 (approx. Rs. 162,990).

3199$ seems quite pricy for the switch even if it is IP enabled. I think even putting together a non IP KVM with some type of IP enabling secondary hardware would even be cheaper!
