Intel SSDs available through 800 Best Buy Stores

Intel X25-V SSDs are ready to take the highway as one of the biggest technology giants namely Intel has declared to drive it onto the mainstream by collaborating with Best Buy. The company has pronounced that the Intel X25-M Mainstream SSD and the Intel X25-V Value SSD will be available in all 800 Best Buy stores across the US and can be purchased from bestbuy.com as well.

The company claims that these SSDs can be easily substituted or harmonized with conventional hard drives in notebooks, desktop PCs and laptops. As opposed to HDDs, SSDs have no moving parts. This enables an SSD to offer superior consistency and makes it less power consuming. Plus, it fastens computer performance in all types of operations from initiation to opening files and running software applications.

“We think solid-state drives will become increasingly popular as people realize how much faster they can boot up and run their favorite software or work-intensive applications,” opined Jason Bonfig, Vice President of Computing at Best Buy. “Our customers are looking for the latest and greatest in technology and entertainment experiences. Now they can purchase an Intel SSD and add it to a new or existing computer for a makeover that will improve their computing or gaming experience.”

This decision of Intel stems from the fact that in the past decade, HDD speed has improved by only 1.3 times. In contrast, the company has upgraded the Intel processor to operate more than 200 times faster in the same period. Additionally, the functionality of HDD depends on a mechanical arm and spinning platter. This is often responsible for hard disk crash which further aggravates issues faced due to comparatively lesser storage space. The operation of an SSD involves flash memory chips which not only gets rid of such troubles but rather allows rough and jagged usage.

“When you upgrade to an Intel Solid-State Drive, you see a dramatic improvement in your computing experience,” remarked Pete Hazen, Director of marketing for Intel NAND Solutions Group. “We’ve already shipped more than a million SSDs and consumers are realizing that SSDs aren’t just an alternate means of storage, but a performance enhancement that brings a new level of responsiveness to their computer. With Best Buy selling Intel SSDs, we hope more people will begin to experience the dramatic effect of solid-state drive computing.”

Of the two Intel SSDs, the Intel X25-M Mainstream SSD offers a storage capacity of 80GB while the Intel X25-V Value has a space of 40GB. The former is capacitated to store bulky applications, data and more or less 20,000 songs or 70,000 photos. The 40GB SSD is said to enhance the performance of the system while the X25-M Mainstream has been asserted to efficiently execute as a boot drive in a desktop PC. Both these SSDs would enable users to access their applications and other files at a rapid pace.

The new Intel SSDs have been claimed to render 56 percent improved system responsiveness. This is said to facilitate better performance when gaming or using multimedia applications. To achieve superior computing experience, users will now have to replace or complement their computing system with the Intel SSD without upgrading the system altogether.

Consumers can purchase the 80GB Intel X25-M Mainstream SSD for $299.99 (approx. Rs. 13,814) and the 40GB Intel X25-V Value SSD $129.99 (approx. Rs. 5,986) from Best Buy Stores and bestbuy.com.
