Karbonn A8 entry-level Android smartphone storms into India

The Karbonn A8 is the company’s latest contender for the markets in India and it is here to give Micromax Fun smartphones a run for their money. The recently released Fun A63 and the phone in question have a lot in common and while the latter has been slapped with a very attractive price tag of Rs 6,189, the former’s retail value has still not been disclosed.

Although Karbonn itself has not gone on record to confirm this smartphone, an e-retailer has listed the phone as available anyway. Those of you who are wondering about its screen, allow us to tell you that it has a 4-inch capacitive TFT LCD touch display of 800 x 480p resolution. A G sensor has also been placed on top on the front panel.

The Karbonn A8 relishes on the Android Jelly Bean 4.2 OS, but we don’t think it will be getting the version 4.3 OTA update, considering that nothing has been mentioned about it. And as far as the internal working is concerned, prospective customers can expect multitasking properties as a dual core 1GHz processor rests under the hood.

It can be used for the purpose of not only capturing videos and images, but also making face-to-face conference calls, thanks to a 5MP rear camera and a 0.3MP webcam. Apart from 512MB of RAM, it has 4GB onboard memory and a microSD expansion slot for increasing the latter by up to 32GB. The smartphone draws power from a 1500mAh lithium-ion battery.

The Karbonn A8 is currently up for grabs through Saholic.
