Panasonic to introduce a global model smartphone in Europe by March 2012

Panasonic has announced plans of launching a smartphone next year for European markets. Yet to be christened, the company has conveyed this to be its first global model handset that would be initially released in the continent.

The latest revelation made by the manufacturer marks its attempt towards making a significant entry into the international scenario, especially where smartphones are concerned. After starting to roll out in Europe, the new phone is gradually expected to reach other parts of the world that include countries such as Asia, China, Japan, and even the U.S.

Asserting on it being a global handset, the company has also released some foremost features of the smartphone in question. In step with the popular user demands and present competition standards, this device will feature a slim, D-shaped profile. This is also being done keeping in mind the portability factor.

Another characteristic of this device is a 4.3-inch qHD OLED touch display. To support both these attributes, the phone will also be made dust and water proof. This will make the smartphone easier to be handled in almost all regular outdoor conditions.

Panasonic expresses plans to make this handset commercially available by March 2012. Along with this, it also has aims at bringing its overseas smartphone market share to 9 million by the end of March 2016. As part of this, the OEM forsees a sale of 1.5 million smartphones by the end of next fiscal year in Europe alone.

The price specifications of this unnamed smartphone have not been revealed yet.
