Sony Ericsson Naite and C901 GreenHeart Phones

If you are in an impression that nobody is making an attempt to combat the greenhouse effect, then you would like to reconsider that thought. Sony Ericsson takes a wide step to go green by introducing two new mobile phones, known as the Naite and C901 GreenHeart, under the company’s new GreenHeart portfolio.

The company also unwraps the MH300 headset, which is touted to be one of the greenest devices in the market. Expected to ship with C901 GreenHeart, the headset is made up of 100% recycled plastics. Moreover, both the handsets will hit the markets with a low-power and one-of-its-kind charger – the EP300 GreenHeart charger. In the GreenHeart approach, the devices boast off e-manual, reduced packaging, recycled plastics and optimized display light.

Coming to the features, both the handsets offer entertainment in an eco-friendly way. Users can take great snaps and videos with Photo fix and video recording capability, and even instantly post them to the web with one-click uploading via picture blogging function. Another entertainment alternative is music playback with a built-in media player with functions such as Album art, PlayNow, TrackID, mega bass, Bluetooth stereo (A2DP) and music tones (MP3/AAC). More multimedia attributes include 3D games, Java, FM radio with RDS, video streaming and YouTube.

Stay in touch with email via internet connection that even provides access to NetFront Web browser, web feeds and photo feeds. An additional opportunity to stay connected with friends is messaging service that offers picture messaging (MMS), predictive text input, sound recorder, text messaging (SMS), Exchange ActiveSync and instant messaging. More connectivity options are Google Maps, Bluetooth technology, modem, USB support and synchronization. Other than that, both the eco-friendly phones sport a 2.2-inch screen that delivers a resolution of 240x 320pixels.

After a brief on the common features, let’s go through the distinct features of each green phone. The Sony Ericsson C901 GreenHeart highlights a 5.0 megapixel camera, up to 16x digital zoom, auto focus, Smile Shutter, face detection, BestPic, red-eye reduction and xenon flash. It even offers chat view, motion gaming, auto-rotation, location-based services and geo tagging of photos. All the multimedia content can be store on either up to 120MB of onboard memory or Memory Stick Micro (M2). Measuring 105 x 45 x 13 mm and weighing 107 grams, it comes in ocean white attire.

The Sony Ericsson Naite stands at 108 x 47 x 12.6 mm and weighs 84 grams. It comes dressed in vapour silver and ginger red color shades. It carries a 2.0 megapixel camera, up to 2.5x digital zoom and an internal memory of up to 100MB with a support for SanDisk microSD card.

Supporting GSM/GPRS/EDGE and UMTS/HSPA networks, the Sony Ericsson C901 GreenHeart is expected to reach the markets by Q2 2009 and the Naite will hit in Q3. Price is yet a mystery though.
