After a lot of speculations, Amazon yesterday launched its revolutionary portable reader, Kindle. This handheld device allows users to download books, blogs, magazines and newspapers to a crisp, high-resolution electronic paper display wirelessly. Its display looks like a real paper thus adding to the reading experience.
“We’ve been working on Kindle for more than three years. Our top design objective was for Kindle to disappear in your hands — to get out of the way — so you can enjoy your reading,” said Jeff Bezos, Amazon.com Founder and CEO.
“We also wanted to go beyond the physical book. Kindle is wireless, so whether you’re lying in bed or riding a train, you can think of a book, and have it in less than 60 seconds. No computer is needed — you do your shopping directly from the device. We’re excited to make Kindle available today,” Bezos added.
Currently more than 90,000 books are now available in the Kindle Store, including offers number of best sellers and new releases. The books are auto delivered wirelessly to buyer’s Kindle within no time. Also Amazon offers newspaper subscriptions at the minimal subscription of $5.99 to $14.99 per month.
The advantage of the Kindle is one does not need bookmarked. The handheld remembers the last page you read and opens it for you automatically.
