Magellan tosses in eXplorist Pro 10 GPS handheld device

GPS technology has been always progressing with advanced developments and is undeniably picking up excellent moment in the market. For users who find it difficult to remember places, Magellan has now unfurled its tough waterproof GPS handheld device dubbed eXplorist Pro 10.

The unit houses a 3-inch WQVGA transflective color touchscreen, 533MHz processor and 128MB RAM. This new compact solution sports 4GB internal storage space which can be seamlessly expanded up to 32GB using a microSDHC card. Crafted with IPX-7 waterproof enclosure, the offering claims to be an ideal solution for GIS professionals who want to gather essential GPS/GIS data.

The device boasts of its capability to render 3 to 5 meters accuracy in real-time with an integrated GPS receiver as well as function efficiently with a supported Bluetooth-enabled GPS receiver for sub-meter or 1-3 meter accuracy. It comes equipped with a 3.2 mega-pixel camera to capture geotagged photos and videos and an on-board voice recorder.

Powered by two standard AA batteries, the eXplorist Pro 10 can work easily for about 15 hours without any interruption. Driven by the standard Windows Mobile v6.5 operating system, the device comes along with a 3D compass, pressure altimeter and barometer.
