Sony PS3 makes Profit, 5 Million Units Sold

Sony PS3 Sony has announced the financial data of the last quarter of 2007 that marked a profitable sales figure of 5 million units. For the first time since the PlayStation 3’s launch, the company showed a $100 plus million gain in the PlayStation division.

In the third quarter of Sony’s fiscal year (October to December), the company has experienced sales of 4.9 million PS3 units, 5.76 million PSPs and 26 million PS3 games.

The PlayStation business reached an exceptionally high profit of around $121 million. In the same quarter of the previous year, Sony had to bear a huge loss of $509 million.

It is obviously a great relief for Sony. Apparently, the credit goes to the reduction of the production cost of the PS3 to half.
