NHK partners with Sharp for new 85-inch direct-view LCD

NHK, Sharp 85-inch LCD

Users always make space for high-end displays which are refined with coherent technologies and competent features. Enriching the entertainment segment, NHK has collaborated with Sharp to elegantly outline an 85-inch LCD which is compatible with Super Hi-Vision.

NHK shares that it started research and development in Super Hi-Vision way back in 1995 and is now anticipated to begin trial broadcasts in 2020. The Super Hi-Vision renders around 33 megapixels, or 16 times the resolution of HDTVs to offer crisp, sharp and highly detailed image quality.

In addition, Sharp’s UV2A LCD technology was implemented to devise a direct-view LCD compatible with the high display performance of Super Hi-Vision. Users can enjoy a virtual-reality-like experience with 300cd/m2 brightness and 10 bits for each RGB color.

The new 85-inch LCD will be displayed at NHK’s Science & Technology Research Laboratories in Tokyo from May 26 to 29, 2011.
