Samsung NX200 interchangeable lens camera with 20.3 megapixel APS-C CMOS sensor, displayed at IFA, promises to be a combination of style and quality. While the sleek and compact design spell style, NX200’s unique features add the much needed oomph to the quality.
The user can control a number of parameters through Samsung’s i-Function 2.0 lenses. There is a range of nine different i-Function lenses that the camera is fully compatible with. The lens ring and the button on the lens facilitate switching between shutter speed, aperture, exposure value (EV), white balance (WB), and ISO. At the same time, i-Function 2.0 allows easy access to six of the ten smart filter effects available on the camera. When the camera is in the Lens Priority Mode then the intelli-Zoom function can be selected directly from the lens. The user can carry out all these functions without having to look up to take their eyes away from the shot. Lenses with 18-200mm, 16mm, and 60mm and 85mm focal lengths are included in the i-Function system.
The presence of a wide range of ISO settings (100-12800, covering seven stops) allows for shooting in low-light conditions and capturing still images of moving objects. High-speed capture is also achieved with 100ms advanced AF speed, quick start-up and seven fps continuous shooting along with the ability to move from shot to shot in only 400ms. Complete with a 3.0†VGA AMOLED display, the Samsung NX200 features 1920×1080/30p (H.264) HD movie recording to capture those unforgettable events along with good stereo sound. It also gives options of thirteen different frames, hailed as the Magic Frame technology by Samsung, within which images can be encapsulate and shared.
The Samsung NX200 camera also has something in store for the amateurs dabbling in photography. Its Smart Panel feature with intuitive controls like the Hot Key button enables toggling key functions without having to go through the menus. This makes taking snapshots simple, fuss-free and more enjoyable, even for the beginners.
The Panorama and Sound Picture functions, present in the gadget have given it a certain edge. The former function allows taking lengthened shots of large objects and the same can be turned into a 3D scene, giving a life-like feel to the images. The latter, on the other hand, enables recording a sound-clip that can accompany a still image thus, blowing life into the images and making them more memorable.
