Today Panasonic launched two new compact digital cameras namely LUMIX DMC- FX55 and DMC-FX33 and one DSLR camera called FZ 18.

The DMC-FX33 is an 8.1 megapixel camera with 1/2.5-inch CCD and it also incorporates new light sensor that increases the 2.5-inch LCD’s brightness when in direct sunlight. While the FX55 also features an 8.1MP camera with 3-inch LCD and, 28-mm wide angle, 3.6x optical zoom and LEICA DC lens.

Besides, both the cameras feature:

  • Intelligent Scene Selector that automatically selects the appropriate scene mode from the most frequently-used modes such as Portrait, Scenery, Macro, Night Scenery and Night Portrait
  • Face Detection System, which helps the camera to focus, set auto exposure and detects up to 15 human faces, capturing them clearly and brightly
  • Continuous Auto-focus, which allows the camera to maintain focus on the subject without having to press the shutter button halfway and allowing for best results of a photo opportunity by minimizing the auto-focus time
  • Venus Engine III, supporting a new High Sensitivity mode, which allows images to be shot at a setting of up to ISO 6400
  • “With our Intelligent Auto Modes, the DMC-FX55 and DMC-FX33 are the perfect combination of performance and style, giving consumers a user-friendly digital camera in a sleek and compact body that makes it easy to carry,” said Alex Fried, National Marketing Manager, Imaging, Panasonic Consumer Electronics Company.

    “Also featuring a 28-mm wide-angle LEICA DC lens and MEGA OIS, these cameras allow the on-the-go consumer to capture high-quality images with incredible features and convenience,” he added.

    Panasonic’s both new compact cameras feature 27 MB built-in memory and a SDHC/SD Memory Card slot for the extra storage.

    Besides, the DMC-FX33 is compatible with a marine case, which is very helpful for underwater shooting purposes.

    The DMC-FX55 will be available in three colors, silver, black and pink, whereas the DMC-FX33 will ship in silver, black, blue and brown colors.

    The DMC-FX55 and DMC-FX33 both will be available in September 2007 at the price of $349.95 (around Rs. 14,080) and $299.95 (around Rs. 12,080) respectively.

    Panasonic also has introduced a new model in its FZ superzoom series, the FZ18 is packed with astonishing eighteen times optical zoom. This camera features a 2.5-inch large, high resolution LCD with 207,000 pixels, a 0.44-inch Electric Viewfinder with 188,000 pixels, f/2.8 brightness and is powered by the high-quality, Venus Engine III boasting shooting at ISO 1600 in normal recording mode.

    Besides, the camera delivers high performance by independent buttons of auto focus, auto exposure lock, and Macro buttons.

    Like LUMIX DMC- FX55 and DMC-FX33 the Z18 will also be available from black in September 2007 at the price of $399.95 (approx. Rs. 16,110).

      “…one DSLR camera called FZ 18. ” says techgadgets. But the Panasonic FZ 18 is not at all a DSLR. It is not a Digital Single Lens Reflex camera!!! Its a DSLR like looking.
