After the EOS-1Ds Mark III, Canon USA has announced to launch one more digital SLR camera called the EOS 40D.

The newly launched camera has a 10.1-megapixel CMOS imaging sensor and DIGIC III image processor, both together make the camera work in a better manner and deliver better quality of images.

Key features of the EOS 40D DSLR include:

  • 10.1 Megapixel APS-C CMOS sensor
  • 6.5 fps continuous shooting, max. burst 75 JPEGs
  • New AF system with 9 cross-type sensors
  • Canon DIGIC III processor
  • 3.0” LCD with Live View mode
  • Canon EOS Integrated Cleaning System
  • Clear and bright viewfinder
  • Customisable Picture Style processing parameters
  • Speed and image quality
  • On the occasion of the launch Yuichi Ishizuka, senior vice president and general manager, Consumer Imaging Group, Canon U.S.A. said, “This newest member of Canon’s Digital SLR family takes mid-range Digital SLRs to exciting new heights with enhanced resolution and image quality, faster shooting and processing speeds and better overall functionality than ever before,”

    Further he added, “The Canon EOS 40D Digital SLR Camera incorporates many Canon innovations and advancements that differentiate our products from the competition, while respecting and reinforcing our long-standing traditions of providing superior value and innovative imaging technology.”

    The EOS 40D DSLR camera will be made available in the US market by September. Canon intends to sell body-only configuration at an estimated selling price of $1,299.00, while the kit version with Canon’s EF 28-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM zoom lens will be offered at an estimated cost of $1,499.
