Siemens Gigaset tosses out A490, A490 Duo cordless phones in India

Siemens Gigaset A490 Duo Before mobile handsets penetrated into households like wildfire, several tech aficionados preferred cordless phones as opposed to landlines. Though such devices aren’t rare, we’ve been hearing less about them over the last few years. Reviving such memories of the past, Gigaset Communications has unleashed two new cordless devices dubbed A490 and A490 Duo in the Indian territory.

Enclosed in shimmering white and grey covers, the Gigaset A490 has been equipped with an illuminated ergonomic keypad and display. Its phonebook is capable of storing around 80 entries whereas the call list can save about ten of the previously dialed numbers and up to 25 missed calls. Activation of the Clip function on this handset enables its display to flash callers’ names provided that the number from which a call is received has been stored in the phonebook. To suit multi-person homes, the company also allows buyers to register approximately four handsets with Gigaset’s base station.

“After getting overwhelming response in India on the existing range of Gigaset Cordless instruments, we are delighted to launch additional range to further strengthen our presence in India,” commented Shahzad Ahmed, Chief Executive Officer – Middle East, Africa and India Gigaset Communications. “As the European market leader in cordless phones and a premium manufacturer, we look forward to providing innovative and high quality products to a discerning and growing Indian consumer base. Within a very short time period we will further gain significant market share and shape the market to the benefit of the Indian customers and shall launch more models.”

Delivering superior sound quality with a talktime of nearly six hours, the construction of these offerings entails energy-efficient technology. It has been characterized by low levels of radiation as the integrated ECO mode helps the device consume about 70 percent lesser power during transmission. Further, the transmission mode is turned off while these phones have been switched to the standby mode or put to charge.

The Gigaset A490 has been priced at Rs. 1,990 while buyers can grab the A490 Duo by shelling out Rs. 3,990.
