Verizon also picking up Pantech UML290 4G wireless modem

Pantech UML290 Modem Verizon plans to offer its customers not just one 4G wireless modem tomorrow. Apart from the LG VL600, Verizon Wireless will also start extending Pantech’s UML290 4G wireless modem on their 4G LTE network.

Tech world is seeing increasing rates of 4G adoption mainly due to the speed advantages it offers over 3G. Verizon’s 4G LTE network is cited to render download speeds of approximately 5MB/s to 12MB/s and upload rates of 2MB/s to 5MB/s in areas covered by the carrier’s 4G broadband network.

Subscribers can avail of download speeds reading at 600KB/s to 1.4MB/s and upload speeds of 500KB/s to 800KB/s in Mobile Broadband coverage areas. It embeds an internal antenna and a 180°-rotating USB connector that can be stowed away when not in use. The modem’s compatible with the 32-bit Windows XP OS as well as the 32-bit and 64-bit Windows Vista SP2/7 OS.

The UML290 is going to be priced at $99.99 (approx. Rs. 4,500) after a $50 (approx. Rs. 2,250) mail-in rebate. Customers will have to sign up for a two-year agreement on a 4G Mobile Broadband plan in order to lay hands on the modem.
