Increasing Use of Gadgets is Affecting the Social Life of People

Advantageous gadgets come along with few disadvantages too. Latest research shows that new technologies and gadgets are the main cause of the increasing shyness amongst people.

Gadgets Psychologist, Harvard Business School researcher and etiquette columnist Robin Abrahams said that today’s society is filled with shy people.

According to Abrahams, now a days people shop online, listen to MP3 players, and most importantly they email or SMS each-other than talk. All this has led to absence of face-to-face communication. Thus the number of shy people is increasing day by day.

She further said that “Society is changing so rapidly it’s becoming difficult to navigate. There’s no longer a set of rules for appropriate behaviour.”

“At the same time, technology is enabling us to opt out of difficult situations and causing people to become more insular,” said Abrahams while on a visit to University of Tasmania for National Science Week.

Abraham was visiting University of Tasmania for National Science Week. She mentioned that this problem is most prevalent in Japan and least prevalent in Israel.

As a solution Abraham stated that people should communicate more. Social interaction is the best method to come out of the shy nature.

In a way we say that the world is becoming a global village and everybody is coming closer. But at the same time we are going away from the society, friends and relatives. So exactly where we are heading to?
