The Kite tablet designed by the Italian company DaVinci Mobile Technology has hit pre-order status in the country for a price of under €310. This OEM hasn’t mentioned anything about the device’s global availability as yet.
The Kite tablets’ key highlight is its ability to run dual platforms – Android Ice Cream Sandwich as well as the Ubuntu 12 OS. Users can easily switch between these systems and take advantage of the positive features of each of the platform. The device’s front panel is graced by an IPS capacitive touchscreen measuring 10.1 inches diagonally which offers a wide viewing angle of 178 degrees and renders visuals in 1920 x 1200p resolution.
A powerful internal system is a pre-requisite to make a tablet capable of supporting two operating systems at the same time. Thus, the Italian conglomerate has integrated a quad core Samsung Exynos processor into the device that can clock in a maximum speed of 1.4GHz. This should ensure smooth multitasking, improved navigation and relatively fast web browsing speed. There’s 2GB of DDR3 RAM as well.
Moreover, prospective customers can expect the slate to deliver decent graphics as a quad core Mali-400MP GPU rests snugly under the hood. It provides 32GB of storage memory to hoard digital content and even sports an expansion slot to increase it further by up to 32GB. The slab is also the proud owner of a front-mounted VGA webcam as well as a rear-facing 2MP camera.
The Wi-Fi-certified tab tags along Bluetooth 4.0 for wireless data transfer and A-GPS for turn-by-turn navigation. Featuring a gyroscope, the device with dimensions of 258.3 x 164 x 9.5 millimeters is compatible with USB keyboards and mice. Besides a mini USB port, it is embedded with a 3.5mm headphone jack and is fueled by a 5400mAh battery.
The Kite by DaVinci Mobile Technology costs €309 (approx. Rs. 22,530), confirms Engadget. It is now up for pre-order through the official website.
