The Acer Iconia B1 has been launched, and its price in India has been set by the by the Taiwanese brand at an affordable Rs. 7,999. This 7 inched tablet was unveiled for the country earlier today, and it has been disclosed by its maker that the device is being targeted towards the youth, new users as well as families. Unveiled for the first time at the recently-concluded CES event, the product features specifications that justify its low cost tag.
The Iconia B1 has been designed to suit the varying needs of today’s consumers, claims its maker. S. Rajendran, who’s the chief marketing officer at Acer India remarked that the tablet PC market in the country has been one of the fastest growing segments, and that it even has the potential to grow further this year. He also mentioned that the new device is set to exceed consumer expectation, while also delivering a ‘wholesome experience’ to its buyers. Calling its touchscreen an ‘ultra-intuitive’ one, he claimed that its compact and lightweight design cues make it an ‘ideal mobile companion.’
The slab runs Google’s Android 4.1 OS, and carries on it a 7-inch capacitive multi-touch display that is able to throw its visuals out with a resolution of 1024 x 600p. A Mediatek MTK 8317T dual core processor clocked at 1.2GHz makes its way into the tablet, providing support for its multitasking attributes. A total of 8GB of internal memory has been housed by it, but it also kicks in support for expansions through its microSD card slot which can be exploited to increase its storage till up to 32GB.
Although a rear snapper is absent from its offerings, the device does carry a front-facing camera on its top right-hand corner, enabling its users to indulge in video chats. A microUSB port for charging and connecting it to PCs is also presented by the product, along with a USB 2.0 port. Besides, essentials such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS and more can be found on it as well.
No word is out yet about the actual release date of the Acer Iconia B1 tablet in India. Its cost however has been disclosed to be Rs. 7,999.
