Apple iPad 2 to run on 1.2GHz Dual Core ARM Cortex-A9 processor?

Apple Logo Apple devices gleam into the limelight way before their release. The highly anticipated rather speculated iPad 2 is no different. The dainty device is yet again in news with some more speculated details.

According to AppleInsider, analyst Ming-Chi Kuo at Concord Securities claims that the new iPad will feature a 1.2GHz Dual Core ARM Cortex-A9 processor. This is an upgrade from the previous 1GHz single-core A8 processor. However, it may not get a higher resolution screen as Apple may retain the same screen.

Reportedly, the analyst further claims that the new processor could elevate the performance level taking it to the level of Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon and Nvidia’s upcoming Tegra 2 3D. The analyst has also created a picture of the new iPad with powerful specs.

Moreover, a CDMA model of the device could be expected. The report further claims that Foxconn will be the only iPad maker while the first quarter of 2011 may witness a production of 4.5 to 5 million units.
