HP TouchPad is top selling electronic device at Amazon US

HP TouchPadIt has been declared that the HP TouchPad is currently on top of the list of the most selling electronic device at Amazon US. Following the recent announcement by the company to discontinue its tablet and webOS phones’ production, the price of the TouchPad has spiraled drastically making it the reigning device of the season.

Overtaking popular devices like the Kindle and the iPod Touch, the tablet’s 16GB and 32GB models have secured the top two spots. For its UK consumer base, reportedly HP is giving out the 16GB TouchPad for a slashed price of £89 (approx. Rs. 6,669) and the 32GB one for £115 (approx. Rs. 8,634).

Launched a month ago, the HP TouchPad equips a 9.7-inch multitouch capacitive touchscreen and runs on the 1.2GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor. Powered by webOS v3.0, the device features Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, accelerometer, gyroscope, compass and a 1.3MP front-facing camera.

The demise of the HP TouchPad which is currently being sold at a price of $99 (Rs. 4,521) in the US wasn’t a sudden one but was being expected to occur sooner or later. This is because of its various problems in the technicalities and the not so encouraging responses and sales of the product. It is also being speculated that the device had hit markets prematurely.
