Lenovo ThinkPad IdeaPad Tablets

Lenovo has announced the launch of its tablet family inclusive of the IdeaPad K1, P1 and ThinkPad tablets. The Android powered tablets will not only have access to the Android Market but also to the Lenovo App shop and Netflix.

These devices are said to be the first Honeycomb powered tablets to feature Netflix and come with built-in HDMI ports along with Digital Rights Management (DRM) to stream movies and enjoy them on big screen HDTVs. Equipped with Nvidia Tegra 2 dual core mobile processors, these tablets with Adobe Flash Player support browsing flash-enabled websites while consuming low power.

So whether it’s the IdeaPad for entertainment or the ThinkPad for business, we have listened to our customers and are delivering Android-powered tablets designed to meet their particular needs,” quoted Liu Jun, senior vice president and president, Mobile Internet Digital Home business group, Lenovo.

The lightweight IdeaPad K1 comes with various pre-loaded apps such as Rovio, Dataviz, NFS, Angry Birds, Documents to Go and more. Also included is the SocialTouch app which provides an instant access to social networking websites. Its screen offers an HD resolution of 1280 x 800 while the 2MP and 5MP cameras allow video chatting and recording HD videos.

Aimed at business professionals, the ThinkPad tablet comes with an optional Keyboard Folio case with optical TrackPoint and digitizer pen. Its anti-theft software, Computrace along with features like virtual desktop support, simple zero-touch deployment with LanDesk and secure email support safeguard data saved in the device. The 10.1-inch WXGA display with 1280 x 800 resolution scratch-resistant IPS display offers 178-degree viewing angle. It is integrated with apps like Documents to Go, Good for Enterprise and more apart from support for ThinkPlus.

Equally useful for office and home, the IdeaPad tablet P1 with Windows 7 employs the 1.5GHz Intel processor. Fitted with a 10.1-inch touchscreen, it can be coupled with a stylus pen. The sleek tablet supports Office documents and incorporates Microsoft Security Essentials.

All tablets can be connected to various devices using Bluetooth, HDMI and USB ports. They all feature the SocialTouch app for instant access to social networking websites. Besides cloud storage, they also support Wi-Fi.

The 32GB Lenovo IdeaPad tablet K1 is priced at $499 (approx. Rs. 22,190) while the 16GB Lenovo ThinkPad tablet with Wi-Fi and digitizer pen at $589 (approx. Rs. 26,190) and are up for pre-order in the U.S. They will be made available in August. The Lenovo IdeaPad tablet P1 will hit stores in the fourth quarter this year. All tablets come with a one-year warranty.
